Independent Music New Zealand (IMNZ) is the New Zealand voice for independent record labels and distributors - advocating for and helping to promote these labels and their artists.
Indie labels and distributors release the bulk of New Zealand music and IMNZ works to spread the word, and lobbies for any changes to the industry that will benefit local labels. IMNZ started in 2001 and now has over 80 members including Powertool Records, 1157 Records, Tardus Music, Arch Hill Recordings, Dunedinmusic.com and many more; these labels collectively represent over 300 New Zealand musical acts.
IMNZ is also involved with the independent scene internationally, as members of the Worldwide Independent Network (WIN) and Merlin, the global independent digital licensing body. They also produce the IMNZ independent album chart which highlights the top sellers each month; and you can visit their website to catch up with the latest news from the world of NZ indie labels.
